- Two Augustinian Recollects participated in the kick-off of the Real Valldolid-Alaves of the Liga Adelante (“forward league”) of BBVA.

11th of January, 10,000 people watched in the Zorrilla Stadium of Valladolid the football match of the Spanish Liga Adelante BBVA the honorary kick-off by two Augustinian Recollects in the name of the Sierra Leone mission and in the fight against Ebola.
The Spanish second división team Real Valladolid carried out a homage to everyone around the world giving aid to the needy.

The two missionaries of the Augustinian Reccolect Order, René Gonzales and Jose Luis Garoya were present. The former is a native of Olmedo (Valladolid ) and spent years studying in the St. Augustine School of the Augustinian REcollect. The latter was a student and later profesor in this college.

During their stay in the Sierra Leone missión in Kamabai, Garayoa they had received from the Real Valladolid Foundation equipment from the club which were then donated to a local team of this West African country.A photo of these equipments went viral: some members of the fooball team of Magbonso (Biriwa Chiefdom, Sierra Leona) buried a youngster who died struck by a lightning dressed in the White-violet uniform of the team.

Moreover the Real Valladolid team in collaboration with the Valladolid Football Federation and the Real Valladolid Federation of Olmedo raised money at the entrance from people who wanted to help with the financial needs of the Augustinian Recollects Social work.

At 6:14 pm René González and José Luis Garayoa did the honors of initial kick-off. Then the stadium observed silence in memory of the dead victims of the yihadist in Paris.

The match ended with Real Valladolid in the second position in the BBVA Forward League after defeating Alaves two-nil. There were 9, 107 spectators.
